The following lighthouses were taken on a vacation to Hawaii in April, 2003.
This lighthouse is a private residence, and very well defended. I was able to get some nice pictures of it despite owners attempt to screen it from public.
There is no public viewing location available other than a grassy knoll area to the left of the lighthouse where some views can be seen. You can also take the paved trail down to the ocean where more views would be available. Depending on traffic, you can get a nice shot from across the road from the entrance. Still, one of my peeves about lighthouse photography is that some are unavailable to the viewing public such as this one. I am, however grateful that the owners maintain the light in such fine form.
The first picture is from the top of the Diamond Head volcanic crater summit of 800 feet.
